Traversa Barbera d’Alba 21: to my knowledge the first kosher barbera d’alba (the prime italian region in Piedmont for barbera, famous for its white gold aka the white truffles of Alba) in 11 years but from a great winery. Truly special wine, layered with blue and purple fruit accented by notes of nutmeg, black licorice, black truffle, ripe maraschino cherries, hints of good balsamic and soy sauce, it’s velvety with high acidity and ripe, chewy tannins with a long, juicy finish. Approachable now but I’d drink in 2027-2033. 92+
