Shirah Power to the People Syrah 2019

From a growing season destined for power, vintage 2019  Power delivers on all fronts. The deep, tannic, dark fruited Syrah from Thompson merged with the ripe and spice heavy Shokrian Syrah (co fermented with 2% Viognier) results in a Syrah of epic proportions. Density and opulence frame the dark berry fruit and meaty, cool climate Syrah characteristics and 40% new French oak barrel impact complement the dark tones with deep bass tone roasty notes and rich smooth tannin. After aging in oak for two years, it spent another two years in bottle before release to allow the tannins to ease up slightly.

Color: dark magenta

Nose: dense, blackberry jam, meaty, shiitake,soy, mocha, oak, roasty notes, grapey, stemmy and peppery

Mouth: rich and opulent, soft and integrated tannin yet still very structured, blackberry and blueberry fruit, gamey meat, coffee liquor, iodine, star anise 

Decant for: An hour of decanting will allow this wine to open up nicely.

Pair with: wagyu rib eye, rack of lamb
