Luna Matta Vineyard’s final Aglianico marks the end of an era. Once a defining site for this bold Italian grape, the vineyard has now been replanted—but not before yielding one last, unforgettable vintage. 

True to its reputation, this Aglianico is anything but shy. Structured and assertive, it leads with juniper, fennel, and oceanic sage, layered over a deep, dark core of overripe blackberry and raspberry. The fruit here is bold—bordering on reduction, yet with an almost savory edge—marmite, soy sauce, a touch of earth. 

With air, a lifted spice note emerges, adding freshness and dimension. Paso Robles’ dry heat leaves its signature here, too—there’s a sense of sunbaked earth, of brittle brush underfoot, giving the wine a structure that stands firm beneath its weight. 

This final Luna Matta release captures everything that made this vineyard special—power, complexity, and a character that refuses to be forgotten.

TASTING NOTES 

Nose: Juniper, fennel, oceanic sage, overripe blackberry, raspberry, hint of soy sauce. 

Mouth: Bold and structured, with ripe blackberry and raspberry at the core. Given time to open up, layers of spice emerge, with a subtle umami edge—marmite, soy sauce, a touch of earth.
