Chateau Marquisat de Binet "Cuvee Abel" 2015
Chateau Marquisat de Binet "Cuvee Abel" 2015
A special cuvee aged in 100% concrete tanks, no oak treatment. The wine itself is very playful, fruit forward, but held upright by a stony structure of earth. While only a few hundred yards away from St Emilion proper, and the legendary Chateaux that surround this special mountain, it's amazing to see such unique qualities of terroir that not only typifies a region, but also accents the virtues of this most unique property. One of Bordeaux's only true hillside estates.
The 2015 Marquisat de Binet “Cuvee Abel” finally lets us experience this vineyard from a warmer, more balanced vintage. Following the age worthy releases from 2012 and 2014, the 2015 is denser and concentrated, with great length and elegance. As a reminder, this Château sits on a hilltop in the Bordeaux region of Montagne St. Emilion, with 360 degree views of Bordeaux’s “Right Bank.” The most atypical and exciting part of this wine is that it is made without any oak contact whatsoever. The resulting power and flavor is purely the result of the vineyards’s fruit, with a winemaking style that lets the natural quality shine through. This wine is a medium-full bodied blend. With great length and balance, the fruit flavors are more concentrated than in previous vintages. These fresh elements combine with the savory and mineral notes to achieve remarkable balance. The sensation of salinity and the plush, velvety texture is the truest hallmark of this wine. Drink now with 1-2 hours breathing time, or age through 2026 and beyond. Certainly the “biggest” vintage of this blend so far.
