In 1787, Thomas Jefferson, future president of the United States, put this wine on the map, ranking it as one of his favourites. In the heart of the Médoc Regional Natural Park in the prestigious Margaux appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank lies a unique landscape combining a bucolic setting, the hustle and bustle of a wine estate and the status of a great growth in the 1855 classification. The Sénéclauze family, who have owned the château since 1935, have continued to develop it from one generation to the next. This sense of permanence and longevity runs in the family genes, with the pervasive desire to transmit heritage.
2023 vintage tasting notes
2023 blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot
Tobacco, mint-leaf, cigar box, flowers, and red fruit aromatics open the perfume. Medium-bodied, soft, and silky, with a refined character from start to finish, this is quite nice, and will only improve with aging. Drink from 2027-2050.
