In the Médoc history, vines already appear in the place called “Fourcas” in the eighteenth century, as evidenced by the cartographic work of Belleyme, under Louis XV. “Fourcas Dupré” took its name in 1843, when Maître Jean Antoine Dupré became the owner. Since 1970, the Pages family has maintained the same state of mind: meticulousness, know-how and passion. It costs a very strong qualitative requirement so that the wines of Château Fourcas Dupré are widely recognized in the press, by the biggest international critics and by many amateurs all over the world. The estate is classified in AOC Listrac-Médoc.

The terroir of Château Fourcas Dupré is made up of Pyrenean Graves (80%), which gives it its minerality, elegance and complexity to the wine. Soil work is based on moderate maceration and extraction favoring complexity and elegance to power. A large selection work is then carried out on each press individually aged in barrels and only used to perfect the balance of the wine. The vineyard of Château Fourcas Dupré is located on the culminating point of the Médoc (shared with Ch. Fonréaud) and displays ambitions at the height of its terroir for the years to come. The grape variety is 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The Château has a modern and fully thermoregulated vat room. The cellars date from 1843 and are particularly adapted to the aging of the wines which is from 10 to 12 months in barrels of which 30% in new wood. The team is willing to highlight the assets of this magnificent terroir.

At the tasting, Château Fourcas Dupré expresses a mineral and complex style with a strong color and ruby shades. Its personality develops then on a suave and balanced set. With time the fade and elegance of its tannins give it a harmony and a remarkable balance. Note the roasted and toasted notes that develop during aging.
