These ruins bear witness to the era when, for nearly three centuries, the region of Guyenne alternated between English and French rule. Indeed, it was an English king, Edward III, who authorized Gaillard de Malengin to build this fortified manor in 1330. Today, the Edmond de Rothschild family is writing a new chapter in the long history of Château de Malengin, boldly propelling the estate into a new era of modernity. The clay-limestone soils are ideally suited to Merlot—Malengin’s signature grape variety—imparting both power and distinctive character. Planted on a north-south axis with an east-west exposure, the vines enjoy consistent sunlight throughout the day. The vineyard is now managed using precision sustainable viticulture and holds HVE3 (High Environmental Value) certification. The use of inputs is kept to a strict minimum, with a preference for organic soil amendments and both conventional and organic crop protection treatments.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0735/3001/6054/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_bee6094f-33da-4fe7-bee3-95810d6f4ee8.png?v=1783552904
